Carbon Monoxide Therapy Using Hybrid Carbon Monoxide-Releasing/Nrf2-Inducing Molecules through a Neuroprotective Lens

چکیده

Carbon monoxide (CO) has long been known for its toxicity. However, in recent decades, new applications CO as a therapeutic compound have proposed, and multiple forms of therapy since developed studied. Previous research found that role gasotransmitter promotes anti-inflammatory antioxidant effects, making it an avenue interest medicine. Such effects are possible because the Nrf2/HO1 pathway, which become target development activation also leads to release. Currently, different treatment involving include inhaled (iCO), carbon monoxide-releasing molecules (CORMs), hybrid (HYCOs). In this article, we review progression studies develop therapies, mechanisms involved CO, current using CO.

Biological signaling by carbon monoxide and carbon monoxide-releasing molecules.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is continuously produced in mammalian cells during the degradation of heme. It is a stable gaseous molecule that reacts selectively with transition metals in a specific redox state, and these characteristics restrict the interaction of CO with defined biological targets that transduce its signaling activity. Because of the high affinity of CO for ferrous heme, these targets...

Victim of carbon monoxide poisoning identified by carbon monoxide oximetry.

BACKGROUND Carbon monoxide (CO) is known as a leading cause of unintentional poisoning death in many countries. Diagnosis is usually made by measuring carboxyhemoglobin (COHb), but due to the non-specific symptoms, the crucial step is considering CO poisoning. A possible solution might be screening emergency department (ED) patients. A cutaneous sensor that measures oxygen and CO saturation sim...

Neuroprotective effert of carbon monoxide and Nrf2 in cerebral ischemia

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short, 22–25 nucleotide long transcripts that may suppress entire signaling pathways by interacting with the 3’-untranslated region (3’-UTR) of coding mRNA targets, interrupting translation and inducing degradation of these targets. The long 3’-UTRs of brain transcripts compared to other tissues predict important roles for brain miRNAs. Supporting this notion, we found th...

Carbon monoxide from SCIAMACHY

Vertical columns of CO have been retrieved from SCIAMACHY/ENVISAT short wave/near infrared (∼2.3 µm) nadir spectra using the Weighting Function Modified (WFM) DOAS retrieval algorithm. WFM-DOAS has been applied to a small spectral fitting window located in SCIAMACHY's channel 8 (∼2365 nm) covering four CO absorption lines. The 5 focus of this paper is to demonstrate that quantitative informatio...
